Building Blocks of a Welcoming School Entrance

Hampton Township, PA
Completed: 2026

Located in Hampton Township, Pennsylvania Wyland Elementary School is part of the Hampton School District, where recent site improvements introduced a creative approach to school entrance safety. Working with DRAW Collective, the district sought to strengthen pedestrian protection along the main entrance while creating an inviting environment that reflects the energy and character of an elementary school.

To bring this vision to life, the project incorporates Wausau Tile's TF6314 Building Block Concrete Bollards and 2403 Plastic Stools from the Street-Side Collection. Inspired by classic toy building blocks, the bollards feature custom blue and gold color combinations that reflect the district's school colors. Positioned alongside traditional concrete bollards, they introduce a distinctive architectural element to the entrance. Coordinating blue and gold stools provide convenient seating for students waiting for pickup, extending the design throughout the entryway.

The completed project demonstrates how thoughtful site furnishing selections can transform everyday functional elements into meaningful design features. By combining conventional bollards with colorful, imaginative forms and complementary seating, Wyland Elementary School creates an entrance that supports student safety while reinforcing school identity and providing a welcoming experience for students, families, and visitors.
