Site Furnishings That Shape the Experience

Located in Kansas City, Missouri, the Historic 18th & Vine District is a culturally significant destination known for its rich jazz heritage and vibrant artistic character. As part of the Revive the Vine streetscape project, three city blocks were transformed into a pedestrian-focused, curbless environment designed to improve accessibility, enhance walkability, and create flexible public space for everyday use and community events.

To support these objectives, the project features Wausau Tile UrbaStyle Galet Benches and Form Series Square Concrete Planters. The Galet benches provide inviting seating while helping define and protect pedestrian areas without relying on traditional barriers that could detract from the surrounding streetscape. Where underground water utility lines limited in-ground landscaping, the Form Series planters provided an above-grade solution for incorporating greenery throughout the district.

The completed streetscape demonstrates how site furnishings can combine function, durability, and design to shape the public experience. By integrating sculptural seating and architectural planters, the project creates a welcoming pedestrian environment that complements the character of the Historic 18th & Vine District while supporting its continued revitalization.
