Northeastern University’s behemoth Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex (ISEC) is a world-class, climate-responsive facility designed to use 75 percent less energy than a typical research lab. The spherical six-story building features more than 234,000 square feet of classroom space and a high-performance façade that contributes to natural visual and thermal comfort control. Its futuristic profile is mirrored by a bright and impressively thought-out interior, highlighted by Wausau Tile's perfectly symmetrical custom precast terrazzo spiral staircase, a monochromatic series of treads and risers that elegantly corkscrew from floor to floor.
